What are we about?

Welcome to kbyne.com, an artist’s website.

When I first put this website together, a few weeks ago I relied on Ai for some of the content texts. Now that I have finished the technical side of the site I will be updating the content texts. You may notice that Ai is more verbose than I am, not to say a little more 'gushy'. Please be patient. I'm on it.

Why shop for an original work of art? Why own something that is edgy, imperfect? Why give house space to a piece of paper that so obviously shows the imperfections of the struggle to express? Why spend money on a single object that only exists once, in one place and on one occasion? When it is so easy to buy cheap, automated, computer generated, mass produced wall decoration.

Here, our collection of figurative original charcoal drawings, ink line sketches, and limited-edition silk screen prints embody an amusing dichotomy—a juxtaposition of the brutal and the basic, the subtle and the delicate. Each original artwork is a testament to the artist's attempts to navigate the complexities of just getting by, drawing inspiration from the stark contrasts that define the human experience.

What emotions can be captured in the bold strokes of charcoal life drawings, where the rude force of the brutal marks meets the page. A figure emerges from the shadows, its form sculpted by the hand’s movement, evoking a sense of primal power and raw energy. These pieces speak of the fundamental aspects of existence—the basic, unfiltered truths that lie at the core of our perception of reality.

Yet, alongside this raw intensity, you'll discover the subtle nuances that weave through each work. In the intricate lines of our original gesture ink drawings, delicate details emerge like whispers against the stark background. Here, the artist invites you to explore imperfect representations of perfect intentions found in the quiet moments—the subtle interplay of light and shadow, of form and void.

Our limited-edition silk screen prints, produced in exclusive runs of just ten, offer a glimpse into a world where the crude and basic hand-built equipment and the pure colour of water-based inks converge. Each print is a recording of a struggle towards precision and artistry, capturing the essence of creation and compromise. The journey that links a pure idea from the mind of our artist to a flawed and compromised reality. The struggle!

You'll find that each original signed artwork holds layers of meaning, each step in the process is a jump away from the original concept. Each action is an adventure where too much could be lost and the final result is waiting to be discovered. Many pieces bear notes on their backs—lines from poems, phrases from books—adding a poetic dimension to the visual narrative. These hidden cues offer glimpses into the artist's inner world, where the power of words meets the evocative force of art.

Imagine owning an original charcoal drawing that speaks of the primal instincts within us all, its stark lines a testament to the brutal truths we often confront; or perhaps a signed limited edition screen print. Turn it over, and you might find a line from Rainer Maria Rilke's poetry, hastily scrawled: "For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror."

Or perhaps you're drawn to an ink line drawn piece that captures the dance of light and shadow in a timeless embrace. On the back, a verse from Pablo Neruda's love sonnets, echoing the delicate interplay of passion and restraint: "In you everything sank! On you everything rises!"

At kbyne.com, we invite you to immerse yourself in the duality of the human experience—a world where the brutal and the basic intertwine with the subtle and the delicate. Each original artwork is a reflection of life's multifaceted nature, each numbered and signed original screen print inviting you to explore, contemplate, and discover that ‘All is perspective’.

Is the power of original art to evoke emotion, to challenge perception, and to illuminate the complexities of existence? Browse our collection of ink drawings, limited edition screen prints and original charcoal drawings today and bring home a piece that captures the essence of both the raw and the refined, the brutal and the delicate.
